According to Ukrinform, the National Police of Ukraine reported this on Telegram, citing Maksym Tsutsikiridze, the acting head of the National Police.
“Zhytomyr suffered a cynical attack by Russian troops—the enemy launched strikes using ‘Banderole’-type drones. This strike claimed the lives of two police officers. At least 20 people were injured,” Tsutsikiridze said.
“Once again, the enemy is targeting more than just buildings. It is deliberately attacking people who work every day to ensure the safety of others. Today, the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr region came under attack. The shelling caused a fire on the roof and the fourth floor,” Tsutsikiridze reported.
He emphasized that “this is yet another manifestation of the true nature of Russian aggression—terror directed against people and those who protect them.”
Police officers, rescue workers, and other emergency services are on the scene.

“I want to address our police officers separately. Thank you for remaining at your posts despite the pain and loss. You continue to serve, help people, and keep the country safe,” Tsutsikiridze noted.
“Our colleagues were killed today. This is an irreparable loss for the National Police,” Tsutsikiridze emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the afternoon of August 19, Russian jet drones attacked Zhytomyr. A strike on the building of the National Police’s Main Directorate in the region was recorded.
