This venue is one of Good Food’s 100 Essential Sydney Cafes and Bakeries of 2026.

Many inner west locals will be familiar with Algorithm, the bright super-popular cafe on Marrickville Road serving truffled folded eggs, beaut pastries and the “Rhythm” cold brew topped with orange-zested vanilla cream.

A cosier, moodier Potts Point location opened in 2025 with a stainless-steel banquette that curves like a skateboard park, and a platoon of attentive staff taking orders for iced raspberry Earl Grey and top-drawer toasties (go for the cheesy butternut option with maple-roasted pumpkin, cheddar, ricotta and sage). The fine-tuning of Algorithm’s specialty drinks and brunch options means there will likely be a table wait at peak times.

Must order: The Rhythm and a smoked sausage and egg muffin is a cracking breakfast combination.
