A couple and their two young children died after the car they were travelling in plunged into a well in Appanapalle village, Dubbak mandal of Siddipet district on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) night. They were returning to Balvanthapur after attending a memorial service in Siddipet.

The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Dandugula Raju, his 25-year-old wife Bhagya, their four-year-old son Nihansh, and two-year-old daughter Sanvika, all residents of Balvanthapur village in Dubbak.

According to police, the accident occurred between 8.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. one of the children sat on the driver’s lap and the other on the mother’s lap when the Swift Dzire, bearing registration number TS 02 ES 7997, suddenly plunged into the well. Police suspect the accident may have occurred after the child tugged at the steering wheel or an animal suddenly appeared in front of the car.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began efforts to retrieve the bodies. As the operation proved difficult, firefighters were called in and the bodies were recovered using an earthmover. The well, which was around 20 feet, was located on a four-acre parcel of land.

The bodies were shifted to the government hospital in Dubbak for autopsy.

Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and said efforts were underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
