Uttar Pradesh and Japan moved beyond investment dialogue to projects on the ground as Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation held a virtual ground-breaking ceremony for projects worth a combined ₹3,191 crore, with potential employment of more than 10,000 people, at the UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi. The projects coming up at YEIDA underline the growing depth of Japanese manufacturing engagement in Uttar Pradesh and provide an anchor for the proposed Japanese City near Noida International Airport.

The UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026, held in New Delhi, brought together more than 200 Japanese delegates, including business leaders and industry representatives, to explore opportunities across manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, green hydrogen, agriculture, skills, tourism and technology. The focus was on converting the growing India–Japan relationship into investments, production, jobs and long-term industrial partnerships.

Kubota and Minda Turn Investment Commitments into Projects

Addressing the gathering first, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described Japan as a long-term development partner for Uttar Pradesh and called for greater cooperation in technology, manufacturing and agriculture. He highlighted the ground-breaking ceremonies of Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation as important milestones in the India–Japan industrial partnership.

“Come, invest and grow together,” Mr. Chouhan told Japanese companies, stressing the potential to combine Japanese technology with Uttar Pradesh’s talent, scale and expanding market. He also pointed to opportunities to use advanced technology to improve farm productivity and reduce the burden on farmers.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the broader India–Japan relationship and identified infrastructure, inclusive development, manufacturing and innovation, and ease of doing business as key pillars of India’s growth. He pointed to opportunities for

Japanese companies in railways, defence, electronics, semiconductors and agriculture, and invited them to “come, invest in India, invest in Uttar Pradesh.”

₹3,191 Crore Investment to Build a Larger Japanese Manufacturing Base

Escorts Kubota’s ₹2,025-crore project in Sector-10, YEIDA, will manufacture tractors, construction equipment and allied products for domestic and export markets. It is expected to generate employment for more than 3,800 people.

Minda Corporation’s two projects in Sector-10 and Sector-24, YEIDA, involve a combined investment of ₹1,166 crore and are expected to create around 6,440 jobs. The facilities will manufacture ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components, wiring harnesses and related connection systems.

Together, the projects bring ₹3,191 crore of investment and more than 10,000 potential jobs, strengthening YEIDA’s position as an emerging hub for Japanese manufacturing and automotive supply chains.

Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, said the participation of more than 200 Japanese delegates reflected growing confidence in the Japan–UP relationship. He identified green hydrogen, human-resource development, tourism and governance as priority areas and highlighted the scope for combining Yamanashi’s hydrogen ecosystem with Uttar Pradesh’s renewable-energy and industrial potential.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the partnership should now extend beyond factories to technology centres, R&D facilities, skill centres and global supply chains. He highlighted Japanese strengths in precision, quality, research and manufacturing, alongside Uttar Pradesh’s workforce, infrastructure, market and policy ecosystem.

The proposed Japanese City near Noida International Airport is central to this strategy. Located close to semiconductor, electronics and data-centre ecosystems, it is intended to provide Japanese companies with an integrated industrial environment. Uttar Pradesh also offers 17 operational airports, two Dedicated Freight Corridors, metro connectivity in seven cities and more than 75,000 acres of industrial land bank.

The Chief Minister said Japanese practices such as Kaizen, 5S, green manufacturing, robotics and precision engineering can help build an industry-ready workforce and deepen technology transfer.

With the Kubota and Minda projects moving into implementation, the UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi has reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s pitch for a sustained Japanese industrial ecosystem spanning manufacturing, skills, technology and global supply chains, supporting the state’s wider industrial growth and one-trillion-dollar economy ambition.
