Fans of beloved cartoon Bluey can now enjoy the show in a whole new way, as the loveable blue heeler is coming to Yoto for the first time.

Yoto has announced Bluey: The Beach and Other Stories, an audiobook collection featuring eight stories from the hit series. The Yoto card will go on sale 1 September for £9.99, but a waitlist is already open for if you want to be among the first to know when it launches.

If you're not familiar with Yoto, it's a screen-free audio player designed for kids. Children can listen to stories, music, podcasts and games using physical Yoto cards, while parents don't have to worry about screens, ads, cameras or microphones.

This new 45-minute collection is aimed at children up to 5-years-old and includes The Beach, The Pool, Charades, Daddy Robot, Baby Race, Barky Boats, Typewriter, and Magic Xylophone stories. Each story is narrated by Australian actor Miranda Tapsell, with music from the original TV series also included.

This marks the first time Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli have appeared on Yoto, following a collaboration between Yoto, BBC Studios and Penguin Random House. Jess Tarrant, content director at Yoto, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Penguin Random House and BBC Studios to bring this collection of Bluey stories to Yoto. Adapted from the much-loved Bluey books, the single-voice audiobook gives children and families a new way to enjoy these stories together, wherever they are.”

When will Bluey launch on Yoto?

Bluey: The Beach and Other Stories will launch on Yoto on 1 September, 2026. For now, the waitlist is open exclusively through Yoto, so you'll need to sign up if you want to get the launch alert.

The Yoto Player is a screen-free audio device designed for children, from three years all the way up to 12 years. Rather than using a touchscreen or complicated controls, kids simply pop in a physical card to listen to stories, music, podcasts and activities. When tested by assistant IndyBest editor Sarah Jones, she wrote in her Yoto Player review that it “has a clean, modern look,” designed as a “small cube with two chunky dials on the front and a pixel display that shows simple icons related to whatever is playing.”

She added: “One of the biggest positives for me is how naturally it’s helped us cut down on screen time. Instead of reaching for a tablet, my daughter will often choose a Yoto card, and because it’s so simple for her to use independently, it gives her that same sense of control she enjoys with screens. I think that’s a big part of why she’s taken to it so well – she still gets engaging stories and content, just without the overstimulation that can sometimes come with a screen.”
