VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — An 82-year-old man living alone in a remote farmhouse in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon met a grisly end. His body was discovered on Tuesday, tied to a wooden sofa with 14 stab wounds and already in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police are pursuing all possible leads in the killing of farmer Leon Bangot in Barangay Anlugan.According to his nephew, Bangot was last seen alive on July 16.

Linomer Caseres, officer in charge of the Cabanglasan Municipal Police Station, said Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found the victim bound with a belt and bearing 13 stab wounds to the right side of the chest and one stab wound to the back.His body was already infested with maggots when discovered.Investigators recovered a shotgun and a bolo inside the house, which police believe belonged to the victim.“We are facing a blank wall at this point. We will dig deeper into the investigation to determine the motive behind this gruesome killing,” Caseres told the Inquirer, appealing to the public to provide any information that could help identify the suspect.Police are looking into the possibility that the assailant was someone known to the victim.Authorities and SOCO recommended an autopsy to aid the investigation, but Bangot’s family declined and opted to proceed with his burial.Police Col. Oliver Sotto Navales, director of the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, has ordered the Cabanglasan MPS to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible.
