STOCKHOLM, August 21. /TASS/. A machete-wielding attacker entered a school in Fagersta municipality in Sweden's Vastmanland County and injured several people, SVT reported.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene.

According to the TV channel, police detained the attacker. "An operation is underway in the area, and that is all we can say at the moment," local police spokesman Pelle Vamstad said.

Ambulances, law enforcers and a police helicopter are at the scene, along with a rapid-response police unit. Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer said that "the government is in close contact with the police and is continuously monitoring developments."
