A new Xbox is right around the corner, and we're not talking about Project Helix. Instead, to celebrate 25 years of Xbox, Microsoft is releasing a special edition, translucent green Xbox Series X25 this fall. The company announced the console back in June during the Xbox Games Showcase, but didn't share the console's price or exact release date.
On Friday, reliable leaker billbil-kun of Dealabs reported the Xbox Series X25's price, and it's a doozy. According to the leaker's sources, it will cost €899.99, and its estimated price in the U.S. is $899.99. That would make it $100 more than the regular Xbox Series X, which is now $799.99 after yet another price hike. That $899.99 is equivalent to a PlayStation 5 Pro after Sony's March price increases.
According to billbil-kun, the Xbox Series X25 will launch on Nov. 27, which falls on Black Friday. It's still not known yet when preorders will go live.
The anniversary console will come bundled with a special edition green controller, which will also be sold separately. Billbil-kun previously reported the price of the controller would be $79.99. Its ABXY buttons feature the original Xbox controller's color scheme. One bumper is white and the other black, working as a callback to the Xbox controller's black and white buttons.
"The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way," Microsoft said in a news release in June.
