Marcos greets Liza on 67th birthday

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos shared on social media his birthday greeting to First Lady Liza Marcos, who turned 67 on Friday.

“My dear Liza, we’re celebrating today a most important day in the calendar; Liza Day!” the President wrote on Facebook.

“Happy Birthday to the First Lady of every day of my life... and beyond,” Marcos said.

The First Couple tied the knot at the San Francesco Convent in Fiesole, Italy on April 17, 1993.

They have three sons, House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, Joseph Simon and William Vincent.

Malacañang earlier defended the First Lady, who faced backlash over her recent social media post, announcing the start of her “birthday sabbatical” as many Filipinos were struggling from massive flooding due to continuous heavy rains.

“Sa mga na-offend o sumama ang kanilang damdamin sa pag-post na ito, walang ibig na ipahiwatig na negatibo ang ating First Lady (To those who were offended or hurt by the First Lady’s post, she didn’t mean to be negative),” Palace press officer Claire Castro said at a briefing on Tuesday.

Marcos posted on Facebook on Monday a selfie in a garden in an undisclosed location, saying she is “excited to start my birthday sabbatical.”

“No makeup. No hairspray. No terno. No heels. No speeches. No official photos. No meetings. No schedule. No stress. Just me & Mother Nature,” the First Lady wrote.

Castro said the First Lady has been doing everything she can to bring government services closer to the people, leading rice distribution to senior citizens as well as her Lab for All project, which provides free medical services to local communities.
