More than one hundred and fifty years ago, when Chennai was on the cusp of transformation from a cluster of villages into a growing city, it was home to a man whose contribution to spirituality and Tamil literature remains unparalleled. Ramalinga Adigalar, known as Vallalar, lived here with his elder brother, Sabapathy Pillai.
