According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported that its investigation found Russian forces are using R-60M missiles adapted for launch from Geran-2 drones and equipped with radioactive elements.
During inspections of drone impact sites and radiological examinations of the warheads, an investigative team and specialists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine recorded radiation levels up to 80 times higher than the natural background.
Gamma radiation emitted by individual drone fragments ranged from 8.3 to 24 µSv/h, compared with the maximum permissible sanitary limit of 0.3 µSv/h. According to the SSU, such radiation levels pose a direct threat to human health and the environment.
An expert examination initiated by the SSU determined that the missile warheads contained nuclear material identified as uranium-235 and uranium-238.
The presence of radioactive components was confirmed using dosimetric equipment and a mobile automated radiological monitoring system.
Following the discovery and examination of the hazardous munitions, authorities carried out comprehensive measures to neutralize them and ensure public safety.
The SSU has opened criminal proceedings under Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which covers war crimes.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the SSU's counterintelligence officers and investigators earlier detected elevated radiation levels on fragments of a Russian missile fitted to a modified Geran-2 attack drone after an overnight strike on the Chernihiv region on April 7 this year.
