AFL live: Walkout threats at the SCG as Sydney Swans men's and women's teams take the field amid club scandal

Sydney's AFLW team will take to the field first at the SCG today, with some fans threatening to walk out before the start of the later men's game in protest over the scandal that has engulfed the club.

Five men's team players — Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice and James Jordon — have been stood down for breaching team standards.

The AFLW game starts at 12:30pm AEST, with the AFL match beginning at 3:20pm.

In Sunday's other AFL games, Essendon hosts Port Adelaide from 12:20pm in a game that will decide if the Bombers finish on the bottom of the ladder, while Hawthorn travels to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at 7:20pm, with a top four spot on the line for the Hawks.

  • 3:20pm - Carlton vs Adelaide @ Princes Park
  • 5:20pm - Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn @ Alberton Oval

Welcome!

Welcome to ABC Sport's live coverage of the final day of this AFL home and away season.

Despite none of these matches deciding if a team will or will not make finals, today has become one of the season's most anticipated days for the wrong reasons.

Today's blog will be a little different to our usual ones due to the scandal that has engulfed the Sydney Swans.

Sydney's men's and women's teams are both in action this afternoon in a historic double-header at the SCG.

The Swans women's team takes on Essendon's women's team from 12:30pm, before their men's counterparts take on North Melbourne in their first match since last week's scandal. That match commences from 3:20pm.

As much as the on-field action will be anticipated, we'll be very interested to see what things are like in the lead-up as well as in the stands, and we will keep you updated.

Away from the SCG, Essendon hosts Port Adelaide from 12:20pm at Docklands Stadium with the result from that match having huge draft implications.

In the home and away season finale, West Coast hosts Hawthorn at Perth Stadium as the Hawks look to try and lock up a top four spot. That clash kicks off at 7:20pm.
