A 40-year-old medical shop owner was hacked to death by an armed gang in full public view on Madiwala Main Road on Saturday (August 22, 2026) night.
The deceased has been identified as Suheil, a resident of Mangammanapalya, who was running a medical shop in Bommanahalli.
According to the police, Suheil was travelling from Madiwala towards Koramangala on his two-wheeler around 10 p.m., when he was caught in traffic near Madiwala. Four assailants who arrived on two motorcycles allegedly surrounded him and attacked him with machetes.
The attackers reportedly continued the assault in front of hundreds of motorists and pedestrians before fleeing from the spot leaving behind the weapons.
The Madiwala police rushed to the spot and conducted investigation before shifting the body to the hospital.
The police have recovered CCTV footage and initiated investigation to identify the assailants .
Revenge for Shabir murder suspected
Police suspect that the murder was carried out in retaliation for the killing of a rowdy-sheeter, Shabir, at Bandepalya on August 13.
Suheil’s brothers Khalim and Nazir, along with another associate, were reportedly accused in the Shabir murder case.
While Khalim is still in jail, Nazir was released on bail about a month ago.
The police suspect that associates of Shabir targeted Suheil as part of a revenge attack. Police, however, are yet to establish the exact motive.
Suheil reportedly had no criminal background and was leading a normal life running his medical shop.
Attack allegedly planned in advance
Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused may have planned the murder several days in advance, according to the police. Police suspect that the gang had been monitoring Suheil’s movements and intercepted him at a location where he was caught in traffic.
Three teams formed
Three special teams have been formed to track down the accused. Police are examining CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas and are gathering information about the movements of the suspects before and after the attack.
The police are also probing why Suheil, a resident of Mangammanapalya and a medical shop owner in Bommanahalli, had travelled to Madiwala shortly before the murder and who had called him there.
