Over 10,000 Romblon residents benefit from Uplift cash aid

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has rolled out cash assistance to beneficiaries across Romblon under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (Uplift) Program, with more than 10,000 residents set to receive financial support to help cope with rising commodity prices.

In a July 23 post by the DSWD Romblon office, distribution began on July 20, with 1,298 validated beneficiaries in Odiongan town receiving their first tranche of assistance, the agency reported.

A key social protection initiative of the Marcos administration, the Uplift Program provides temporary financial aid to poor, near-poor, and low-income households to cushion the impact of inflation and support daily household needs, the agency says.

Each qualified beneficiary will receive ₱2,000 per month for six months, or a total of ₱12,000.

Across Romblon, a total of 10,593 eligible residents are targeted to receive the assistance as payouts continue in the province’s remaining municipalities. The DSWD assured that payout operations will continue across Romblon until all qualified beneficiaries have received their full financial assistance under the program. INQ /mr
