According to Ukrinform, she wrote about this on the social media platform X.

"I want to offer my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of Russia’s latest attacks in the Kyiv region and in Sloviansk," the European Commission Preaident said.

She emphasized that the destruction of Latvia's Honorary Consulate in Sloviansk in one of the strikes is “once again proving Russia’s complete disregard for diplomacy."

"Europe stands in full solidarity with Latvia and Ukraine. Russia is losing the war it started, and is increasingly targeting civilians in a desperate attempt to crush Ukraine’s spirit. But Ukraine’s spirit is unbreakable. And so is Europe’s resolve to support Ukraine’s defense," von der Leyen stressed.

As reported, a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region on July 24 preliminarily killed 10 people, while around 100 others sustained injuries.

Russia attacked Sloviansk with guided aerial bombs, killing five people and injuring nine others. The strike also damaged, among other facilities, the premises of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in the city.
