Venugopal raises paper leaks issue in Lok Sabha; government ready for debate, says Rijiju; Akhilesh demands PM's statement

Congress MP K.C. Venugopal raises the issue of question paper leaks and the police crackdown on Delhi protests. He says that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju replies to the remarks that the government is ready to discuss the NEET paper leak issue and the kind of discussion and the time for debate will be decided in consultation with the floor leaders of all the party.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav says that the issue is not about political parties but about the future of the youth. He says that all parties should be allowed to speak on the issue. He asks why can’t Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a statement on the students issue in Parliament if he can speak outside.

Meanwhile, Opposition MPs begin their protest despite Mr. Birla trying to break the logjam in the House. Mr. Birla says since Mr. Rijiju has confirmed that the government is ready for discussion, Opposition parties must come for the debate instead of protesting inside the House. However, Opposition continues their protest. The House is adjourned till 2 p.m.
