According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's top diplomat made the statement in a post on X.
"Over the past years, one pattern has been clear: every time major new sanctions loom – especially from the U.S. – Putin pulls out all the stops to buy time," Sybiha stressed.
He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin's "weapon of choice" is "fake diplomacy, staged phone calls, and bad-faith meetings."
"With Senator Graham’s sanctions bill up next week, we must stay alert. Russia may try to derail it by pretending to care about peace," Sybiha emphasized.
According to him, timely sanctions decisions will encourage the Kremlin to end hostilities.
"Tightening the sanctions pressure on Moscow isn't just timely – it is vital to countering Russian terror and forcing a real end to this war," Ukraine's top diplomat concluded.
