Freshly back from a five-day diplomatic tour of Asia, the Princess Royal looked distinguished in a matching cream-coloured hat and tailored blazer, coupled with a teal jacquard dress and classic multi-layered pearl necklace.
Accompanied by her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, the couple watched on with glee as Kalpana battled to victory, beating off bookies' favourite Calandagan.

The royal matriarch was known to round off her evening with one or two glasses of vintage pink champagne, and was noted by historians as at times consuming five or six drinks in a day.
King Charles meanwhile is said to enjoy a '50:50' gin and dry vermouth martini before settling down for dinner, while Prince William has been known to enjoy an alcoholic drink on occasion, including whisky, cider and beer.
