La Union school receives bomb threat, adjusts classes, work

CALASIAO, Pangasinan – The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial University – Mid La Union campus in San Fernando City, will hold online / asynchronous classes for students and work-from-home arrangement for all personnel on Monday, July 27, after the administration was informed of a bomb threat circulating on social media.

An individual earlier threatened that the university’s administration building will be bombed on Monday.

Offensive remarks and statements perceived as provocative to the university and its students and personnel were also posted by the said individual.

“As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus, classes at MLUC (Mid La Union Campus) will be conducted online or asynchronously, while a work-from-home arrangement will be implemented for all personnel on Monday,” the university said in a statement on Saturday.

“The (university) remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment and strongly condemns any acts or statements that threaten the well-being of its students and personnel. Appropriate legal actions will be pursued against those found responsible,” it added.

The university has coordinated with the Philippine National Police, the La Union Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit, and other relevant authorities to evaluate the reported threat and undertake necessary measures.
