The City police have arrested a youth for alleged possession of nearly 95 grams of methamphetamine in Kazhakuttam on Sunday. The accused, identified as Shamnu, 30, of Malayinkeezhu, was arrested around 1 a.m. after his car was intercepted in Kazhakuttam in a joint operation by Kazhakuttam police and the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF). In a bid to escape arrest, the accused purportedly rammed his vehicle into the police vehicle.

According to official sources, the police seized 93.63 grams of methamphetamine in Shamnu’s possession. He is suspected to have planned to peddle the narcotic substance among IT professionals and college students in the Kazhakuttam region.
