800 families affected by floods in Batac City, get DSWD aid

SAN ILDEFONSO, ILOCOS SUR, Philippines — Around 800 families in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, were affected by flooding caused by heavy rains from recent Typhoon Kiyapo (international name: Noul) and received emergency assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday, July 26.

According to DSWD Field Office 1 , each affected family received one Family Food Pack, while 20 families temporarily staying in evacuation centers also received one Family Kit each for additional support.

The agency said relief operations were carried out swiftly through its relief prepositioning area in Batac City, allowing the immediate distribution of food and non-food items to flood-hit communities.

The DSWD Field Office 1 said it continues to coordinate with the local government to ensure the timely delivery of additional assistance and services to families affected by the typhoon. —KENNETH TABIN/CONTRIBUTOR
