A man has been charged with the shooting murder of another man with links to rap group OneFour at a south-west Sydney home in a brazen attack that left four others hospitalised and that police believe had links to organised crime.

The 23-year-old was arrested at Sydney International Airport on Saturday evening, more than two months after the alleged shooting on Arbutus Street, Canley Heights, that killed Alai Ahio.

Police believe the five men were in the Canley Heights home when two other men entered the residence and shots were fired before the pair fled in a white SUV.

Four associates of Ahio, 28, suffered a range of wounds but survived the May 19 attack.

Strike Force Valko detectives arrested the 23-year-old in the departures terminal at Sydney airport, before taking him to Mascot Police Station.

Police later seized multiple electronic devices and 10 grams of cocaine during a raid on a house on Church Street, Moorebank.

The man has been charged with Ahio’s murder and two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol. He was refused bail in a court appearance on Sunday, and will next appear in Parramatta Local Court on September 17.

A social media account linked to Ahio is tagged in photos with members of the western Sydney rap group OneFour. One picture also shows Ahio with “14” tattooed on his neck, and police sources have confirmed the connection.

A social media tribute to Ahio in the hours after his death encouraged others to “turn and give you (sic) life to Christ before it’s to (sic) late”.

“Love you lai running out on the field is not going to be the same without you next to me,” the tribute read.
