A realtor fired three rounds from his licensed weapon after his team lost in a badminton tournament in Kurnool on Sunday (July 26, 2026) night.

According to Kurnool Deputy Superintendent of Police Raghavendra, the Kurnool Badminton Premier League had been under way at the Badminton Academy in the city for the past four weeks. “On Sunday morning, realtor Kaushik’s team lost in the semi-finals. Mr. Kaushik reached the Academy on Sunday evening around 7 p.m. and opened fire. He fired two rounds in the air and another round into the ground,” the DSP said.

No one was injured, but the firing created panic among residents, who confronted him. The police reached the place and took him into custody. Kaushik had used his licensed weapon, a .32 revolver, Mr. Raghavendra said, adding that they would write to the District Collector recommending cancellation of the licence.

Kaushik has been taken into custody for questioning.
