Women in West Bengal can now travel free of cost on all State government-run buses. The scheme, which came into effect on June 1, allows women to travel on both short-route and long-route State buses by showing a valid photo identity document until smart cards are issued. The government says the initiative aims to make public transport more accessible and affordable for women across the State.
