MOSCOW, July 29. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Olga Abramova, an advisor to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, as acting head of the Udmurt Republic, the Kremlin press service reported.

Putin accepted the resignation of the previous head, Alexander Brechalov.

Abramova, who was born in Udmurtia and has spent most of her career in the region, previously served as acting chairman of the regional government, head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and general director of the Babinsky agricultural complex. She became an advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture in autumn 2024.

She is the third woman to lead a Russian region, following Irina Gecht (Nenets Autonomous Region) and Maria Kostyuk (Jewish Autonomous Region).
