Minister for SC, ST and Minority welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar on Tuesday launched a series of development initiatives for the Nallamala tribal region, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening education, infrastructure and livelihoods in Achampet Assembly constituency.

On Tuesday, at Mannanur village in Amrabad mandal, he laid foundation stones for educational and infrastructure works worth ₹12.70 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan for Amrabad and Padara mandals. He also inaugurated works worth ₹1.80 crore for a tribal multipurpose shopping complex aimed at improving marketing opportunities and generating sustainable livelihoods for the Chenchu tribal community.

Emphasising the government’s vision for tribal empowerment, Mr. Laxman Kumar said students from the Nallamala region would be provided educational opportunities comparable to premier institutions, including access to advanced coaching facilities. He expressed confidence that tribal students would excel academically and in sports, while reiterating the government’s commitment to holistic development through sustained investments in education, infrastructure and livelihoods.

He reiterated that the State government has already increased students’ diet charges by 40% and enhanced cosmetic charges to improve student welfare. He also announced that eligible teaching personnel would be regularised by next June and promised a review of pending cases involving non-teaching and cooking staff.

Mr. Laxman Kumar later inspected the Social Welfare Residential Educational Institution, the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group Gurukul institution and the Tribal Girls’ Residential School, and reviewed infrastructure, hostel facilities and academic standards.

He assured that teacher shortages, infrastructural deficiencies, and administrative issues would be addressed on priority, and vacancies will be filled at the earliest after officials submit reports on subject-wise teacher shortage and sanctioned posts.
