Moment arsonist sets former friend’s canal boat alight after row two years earlier

An arsonist set his former friend’s canal boat alight following a dispute two years prior.

CCTV footage shows Tim Fish arriving at Duke’s Cut Lot on the Oxford Canal last October. Later, an explosion can be seen tearing through the boat, which Fish had walked towards just seconds prior.

Fish had poured gasoline from a jerry can on top of a boat belonging to Max Lamb, who was inside the boat at the time, Oxford Crown Court heard.

Mr Lamb was able to put out the flames and save the vessel by using a fire extinguisher.

The former friends fell out two years earlier, the prosecution told the court.

Fish, 39, of no fixed address, was jailed after pleading guilty to arson while being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
