T-Mobile had a major outage on July 27 and now some customers are having success in getting $20 and even more off their bills for the inconvenience.

The outage hit at about 4 pm ET and service was restored by 11:30 pm ET. Downdetector had reports from over 62,000 customers, with users in several states saying that their phones were stuck in SOS mode.

“At @TMobile, we know that customers rely on us to stay connected to what matters most, and we appreciate their understanding as we prioritized resolution,” T-Mobile wrote in a post on X about the restoration of services.

But that understanding was in limited supply for customers and now they have found some luck in finding restitution.

You’re going to have to make some calls

Redditors are posting that they’ve received compensation after contacting customer support.

One customer received $80 ($20 upfront and $10 per month for the next six months) after telling T-Mobile that they missed out on a work opportunity because of it.

However, it seems that getting that much from T-Mobile is not the average. Most people report that T-Mobile offered them $5 or $10 initially and they were then able to negotiate a bit more, usually around $20.

Customer satisfaction is at a low

T-Mobile has had a tough go of it lately when it comes to customer satisfaction. Moves like discontinuing legacy plans and cutting down on free phone deals have been met with anger.

This latest outage was just the latest reason for outrage for some, so it’s no wonder that the company is willing to make some monetary concessions.
