Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said he’s holding out hope that Spider-Man and Venom will one day have their long-awaited crossover in the MCU.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige and film producer Amy Pascal chatted about the possibility of seeing the two characters finally meet up in a Marvel movie. While they didn’t say anything definitively, their remarks hinted that it’s something Marvel Studios is keenly aware of, though how realistic it actually is remains up in the air.

Horowitz asked the pair if they could reveal “how close” they’ve gotten to putting Tom Hardy’s Venom in a flick with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, remarking that it’s been a major “bummer” the two haven’t had a single moment together after all these years.

“It would be great, let’s put it that way,” Pascal said diplomatically.

“Do you have hope?” Horowitz said, prompting Feige to vaguely answer, “We always have hope.”

“I have hope. We have hope,” Pascal playfully interjected.

While this answer, ironically, doesn’t give fans much hope that we’ll see these two versions of the characters share the screen anytime soon, Feige and Pascal did confirm that an animated Venom movie is still in the works.

News of this film first broke on February 23, 2026. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the duo behind Final Destination: Bloodlines, are set to direct the full-length feature, with names like Amy Pascal and even Tom Hardy himself said to be involved, though the exact nature of their relationship to the project is still unknown.

Plot details are also scarce, leaving fans anxious to know what adventure the Symbiote will go on next. Most are hopeful it’ll at least be a better experience than Venom: The Last Dance, which IGN’s Tom Jorgensen gave a 4 out of 10, citing its “boring, generic plot and bad action” that left audiences equal parts snoozing and confused at the cinema.

This is the latest news we’ve heard about a Spider-Man and Symbiote crossover after Tom Holland discussed the situation in response to a young fan during an interview for Brand New Day. “One day, I’m sure we’ll get to see the symbiote,” he said, though he admitted he couldn’t directly say whether or not it appears in the film.

The newest Spidey movie hits theaters on Friday, July 31. IGN scored the flick a 7 out of 10, saying it “effectively refocuses on the sturdiest pillars of the webslinger's iconography: struggling to find balance while swinging around New York City saving the day, and looking dang cool doing it.”
