Pagasa monitors 2 LPAs ‘unlikely’ to become tropical depressions

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — The state weather bureau is monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPAs) within and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday, July 30.

Both weather systems are unlikely to develop into tropical depressions within the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The bureau located one LPA (07e) along the coastal waters of Nasugbu, Batangas, as of 3 a.m. Thursday.

LPA expected to dissipate soon

In its daily forecast, Pagasa said that the weather system will bring cloudy skies and rains over the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila.

The LPA may dissipate within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, another LPA (07f) was spotted outside PAR, about 1,615 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, as of 3 a.m. Thursday.

Pagasa said that the weather system has remained almost stationary and may continue hovering over the Philippine Sea in the next few days.

The LPA may also dissipate soon and is not expected to affect local weather conditions, the bureau added.

Thursday forecast: Generally fair

Generally fair weather is expected across the Visayas and Mindanao, except for possible localized thunderstorms.

Localized thunderstorms are brief, isolated weather disturbances caused by intense daytime heating.

Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, continue to affect parts of Northern Luzon.

As of Thursday morning, Pagasa has not issued any gale warnings over any of the country’s coastal waters.
