From requests for corrections and changes in voter particulars to inclusion of new voters and deletion of names, more than 11.40 lakh forms have been received by the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) between June 16 and July 29 amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

The largest share comprises Form-8 (see infobox for details), with over 7.74 lakh forms received so far, Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V. Anbu Kumar said on Wednesday.
Form-8 is used to correct entries in the electoral roll, change an address, replace an Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC), or update disability status. Of the total Form-8, 6.47 lakh forms seek ‘correction of entries,’ while 90,349 are for ‘shifting of residence.’

More than 3.32 lakh Form-6, meant for inclusion of new voters, have also been received, along with 30,696 Form-7 seeking deletion of names from the electoral roll. Besides this, 2,783 Form-6A used by overseas Indian citizens (NRIs) to add their names to the electoral roll have been submitted so far.
The process has been overwhelmingly online, with only 331 forms submitted offline so far.
The spike in Form-8 submissions comes alongside a large number of voters being categorised as “permanently shifted” under the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) category. As of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, more than 53.39 lakh voters had been marked as permanently shifted, while over 11.92 lakh were categorised as ‘absent or untraceable.’
Mr. Kumar said voters are marked as “permanently shifted” or “absent” if Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are unable to locate them after three visits or if the address in the 2002 legacy (base) roll differs from the address in the 2025 electoral roll.
“Any corrections to names or other particulars, as well as inclusion of new voters, can be made through these forms. They are available online and with the BLOs, and all approved additions and corrections will be reflected in the final electoral roll,” Mr. Kumar said.
