SEOUL, July 30 (Yonhap) -- The KT Wiz announced Thursday they have signed former major league pitcher Davis Daniel to replace struggling starter Matt Sauer.
The Wiz said Daniel, 29, will make US$406,000 for the rest of this Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season.
The American right-hander has 12 major league games under his belt, most recently appearing in three games for the Atlanta Braves last year.
He has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A for the Cincinnati Reds, going 5-8 with a 4.71 ERA in 19 appearances, including 18 starts.
In 93 career Triple-A games, Daniel has a 26-37 record with a 5.31 ERA and 408 strikeouts in 440 1/3 innings.
The Wiz said Daniel has a steady command of his pitches and has a proven strikeout ability.
Daniel is taking over from Sauer, the Wiz's Opening Day starter in March who is leaving the KBO with a 7-5 record and a 4.88 ERA in 18 starts.
Sauer allowed at least a run in all of his outings, including his season-worst eight runs on 10 hits in just three innings against the Lotte Giants on Sunday.
The Wiz have now replaced both of their foreign pitchers they had at the start of the season. In June, they signed Logan Allen as a short-term replacement for injured pitcher Caleb Boushley and then inked Allen to a full contract when Boushley's recovery from shoulder issues hit a snag.
The Wiz came into Thursday ranked second in the KBO at 55-36-2 (wins-losses-ties), 1 1/2 games behind the Samsung Lions. The Wiz are fifth in the 10-team league with a 4.52 ERA.
