An annoying bug in Samsung's popular One Hand Operation + Good Lock module is preventing the equally useful Edge Panels feature from working properly. As a result, Edge Panels are no longer working as intended on some Galaxy phones.
With Edge Panels, you can swipe from the edge of your Galaxy phone's screen to reveal panels. They typically contain shortcuts to apps, widgets, and other features. You can even have multiple Edge Panels for greater flexibility.
Unfortunately, a bug with the One Hand Operation + module is preventing Edge Panels from being triggered (via Android Authority). Ideally, when you swipe on the Edge Panel, it takes precedence over the One Hand+ gesture. But as some frustrated Galaxy users are reporting, that's not happening.
A Samsung Community moderator has acknowledged the bug, saying it stems from the One Hand app "incorrectly recognizing the Edge handle area." The moderator recommends a workaround, which involves opening an app that supports screen rotation, rotating the phone to landscape and then back to portrait, and finally returning to the home screen.
Another option is to turn the Edge Panel off and on again. However, this only works temporarily, with the problem surfacing again after a few hours. Alternatively, you can modify the One Hand Operation + gesture trigger area to avoid the conflict with Edge Panels, though that may not be possible.
Based on social media reports, the bug apparently affects all Galaxy phones, irrespective of whether they are running One UI 8 or One UI 9 beta.
The bug breaks one of One UI's best multitasking features
For most Galaxy users, One Hand Operation + and Edge Panels complement each other. The former provides customizable navigation gestures, while the latter offers quick access to frequently used apps, tools, and Smart Select. With the bug preventing Edge Panels from opening reliably, power users effectively lose one of One UI's most useful multitasking features.
The Samsung community moderator says the issue will be fixed in the next One Hand Operation + update. There's no word on when that will happen, but it's likely to be a matter of days. Until then, you can try one of the workarounds above.
