District Collector Vinay Goyal has issued fresh guidelines regulating the registration, possession, and transfer of drones and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Malappuram. The guidelines are in line with directions from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and the State government.
Under the order, all drones weighing more than 250 grams must be registered through the Digital Sky portal and obtain a unique identification number (UIN). The portal must also be updated with details of the new owner whenever a drone is sold or transferred.
The order prohibits the operation of drones in restricted areas without prior permission and the possession or use of unregistered drones. Violations will attract penal action, warned an official statement here.
Mr. Goyal has directed the police, tahsildars, and heads of district-level departments to ensure strict enforcement of the guidelines as part of security measures.
