Did you hear the one about the talented chef who switched focus from fine dining to fine-tuning the humble pie? Formerly of Perth’s legendary Restaurant Amuse and Oslo’s three Michelin-starred Maaemo, Richard Overby’s pivot into baked goods has yielded plenty of wins: from the kitchen’s many riffs on the steak pie, to dessert options a la pear and chocolate that suggest the sweet stuff is no afterthought.

Good to know: Co-owner Patrick Wallis was a former high-ranking officer at Modus, so Angelwood’s coffee is, unsurprisingly, on point.
