Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation into a drone attack that targeted two gas vessels at Damietta Port, calling on regional de-escalation.

During a phone call with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Sisi also stressed the need for the broader international community to intensify efforts to contain regional tensions and prevent further escalation.

The drone attack in Egypt has raised fears of the conflict in the region widening to a new front. No party has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
