Police officers rescue seal pup wandering through South Auckland suburb

Police say a seal pup that was spotted making its way through the South Auckland suburb of Papakura has been taken back to its natural environment.

In a social media post, Counties Manukau police said they received a call from a concerned member of the public and then consulted with the Department of Conservation on the best way to help.

After receiving advice, officers were able to relocate the pup back to a more appropriate place.

"An ex-seal-ent job by everyone involved and a happy ending for this little traveller!" the post said.
