The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 8 range has just been revealed, but Samsung is already looking forward to the summer of 2027, and the foldables it's expected to reveal then.

While it was previously expected that Samsung would drop the Z Flip line after this year, leaked code names say the exact opposite. But, even more excitingly, the code names hint that we might see a new model folded into the Z-range next year — and that development for yet another device has begun.

Fresh from releasing three models in 2026's Z range, Samsung is now set to add yet another model to the range in 2027, according to a report from Galaxy Club.

The fun with code name leaks is always figuring out which phone each name applies to. According to Galaxy Club, the inclusion of the "B9" code name is confirmation that Samsung is working on the Z Flip 9.

There had been speculation Samsung would drop the Z Flip after this year, so it's good to see this may not be the case. Of course, it doesn't stop Samsung from dropping the phone down the line, but it does mean there's a chance for fans of the phone to see a new one in 2027.

The code name "H9" supposedly refers to a successor for the Z Fold 8, which should be no surprise given how popular that phone is said to have been. The next code name is for the "Q9A", which is assumed to be for the Z Fold 9 Ultra. But that leaves one more phone — the "Q9B".

Galaxy Club assumes this refers to a new Z Trifold, which would be set to release alongside the other phones in the Z range for 2027. The original Trifold was released in a limited run, and despite its high price, sold fairly well. Therefore, Q9B could be Samsung moving the Trifold into a more mainstream release.

None of this is confirmed, though. It's entirely possible the Q9A and B refer to two slightly different versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, rather than a TriFold. "Q8" was used to refer to the Z Fold 8 Ultra during development, so it's possible Samsung may simply be looking to expand the Z Fold Ultra range somehow.

The Z Roll may also be in development

Though don't expect it in 2027 — if it even exists

There's one more code name to discuss, too: "Z9".

Galaxy Club believes this refers to a potential rollable foldable, a Z Roll or Z Slide, if you will.

This sort of foldable has been rumored for a very long time, and recent leaks said

However, if Q9A and B refer to two different versions of the Z Fold Ultra, then it's possible Z9 refers to a new Trifold instead. We simply don't know enough to make a judgment — though as Galaxy Club has said, it does align with recent reports that Samsung is working hard to make a rolling phone real.

It's fair to say we don't have a good idea of what to expect at this moment in time. However, a number of things are still clear. Samsung is at least working on a Z Flip 9, and it's also working on expanding its range of foldables in some way.

Definitely exciting times for foldable fans. We'll be sure to hear more as more leaks and rumors reach our ears.
