Tension prevailed outside the Public Service Commission (PSC) office in Kasaragod on Friday (July 31, 2026) after Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists, attempting to march to the office demanding the resignation of the PSC Chairman over the alleged examination irregularities, were stopped by the police.
The situation turned tense when the protesters allegedly tried to force their way into the office premises. The police blocked the activists, leading to a brief scuffle and pushing and shoving between the two sides.
The protest, led by KSU district president Jawad Puthur, was part of a Statewide agitation launched by the organisation following a Crime Branch investigation report that reportedly found a conspiracy by PSC officials to derail the recruitment process for the post of Chief (Industry and Infrastructure) in the State Planning Board.
Raising slogans against the PSC Chairman, the protesters demanded his immediate resignation and sought a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities. They also called for stringent action against those responsible.
The police arrested and removed Mr. Puthur and KSU activists Nuhman Sulaiman, T. Vishnu, and M. Manu.
