Samsung is expanding its “Re-Newed” program of refurbished Galaxy devices to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, but the pricing leaves a lot to be desired – at the moment, it’s flat out just a bad deal.

The “Re-Newed” program from Samsung offers up Galaxy phones that have been refurbished by Samsung directly with a new battery and any needed fixes, giving older hardware a new life. Samsung has been speeding this program up as of late and, this week, opened up sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 as “Re-Newed” releases.

Colors include silver, blue, and black for the Fold, but only “Mint” for the Flip.

A refurbished Galaxy Z Fold 7 runs between $1,699 – $1,879 depending on the model you pick, which is a discount of $300 – $620, again depending on the storage variant. Here’s how the “Re-Newed” pricing breaks down:

| | | |
| --- | --- | --- |
| | Retail Price | ‘Re-Newed’ Price |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (256GB) | $1,999.99 | $1,699.00 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (512GB) | $2,199.99 | $1,749.00 |
| Galaxy Z Fold 7 (1TB) | $2,499.99 | $1,879.00 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 (256GB) | $1,099.99 | $939.00 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 (512GB) | $1,299.99 | $989.00 |

That’s all based on the retail price, though.

Currently, Samsung is offering its latest foldables at a steep discount, with the base Galaxy Z Fold 7 (256GB) selling for $1,599 – $100 less for a brand new model compared to the refurbished one.

The same is true of the “Re-Newed” Galaxy Z Flip 7. The refurbished one starts at $939, while a brand new model is on sale right now for $899.

It’s always been true that it’s not hard to score a better deal on Samsung’s last-gen Galaxy releases than the “Re-Newed” program offers, but it’s more than a little funny to see Samsung itself being the one to offer than better deal.
