A 24-year-old fisherman and history-sheeter from New Washermenpet, was found dead in suspicious circumstances on Sunday (August 2, 2026). The Fishing Harbour Police have filed a case and are investigating.

A senior official of the City Police said E. Naresh Kumar was a resident of Poondi Thangammal Street in New Washermenpet. The deceased, who was an associate of the notorious history-sheeter Kulla Karthik, had more than 12 criminal cases against him including murder and attempt to murder.

Naresh Kumar had recently been released on bail with regard to the murder case of Dagul Suresh in July. In the early hours of Sunday (August 2, 2026), the police officials of Fishing Harbour Police station found Naresh Kumar dead at the entrance of ‘B’ Block, of the Slum Clearance Board Housing of Poondi Thangammal Street near his house with injuries on his face which appeared to have been caused by a heavy object.

The body has been sent to the Government Stanley Hospital for post mortem.
