Passengers on Train No. 19578 Jamnagar–Tirunelveli Express were disembarked at Aluva and arrangements were made for their onward journey on other trains after a ‘hot axle’ was detected in the train on Sunday (August 2, 2026).

The axle temperature of the affected coach had exceeded 100 degrees Celsius on Sunday. As a precautionary safety measure, the affected coach was detained for further examination, as detachment of the coach was not feasible, said a Railway release.

Railway officials at the Divisional Headquarters and personnel at Aluva station assisted passengers with their onward journey. Repeated public announcements were made at the station, and staff guided passengers to board suitable alternative trains based on their destinations.

A special train was also arranged from Thiruvananthapuram to Tirunelveli to facilitate the onward journey of passengers travelling beyond Thiruvananthapuram. Staff were deployed to assist passengers during the transfer and boarding process.

Adequate catering arrangements were also made for the affected passengers.
