President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held his first phone conversation with newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Andy Burnham.

The two sides reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine and agreed to discuss further cooperation in the near future, including within the Anti-Ballistic Coalition.

Zelensky stated this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"I was happy to speak with Andy Burnham and congratulate him on taking office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. I truly appreciate that the support for Ukraine and our people will remain steadfast," he said.

The head of state expressed gratitude to Burnham for his words of respect for the Ukrainian people, as well as for his condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in recent Russian attacks.

"Ukraine and the United Kingdom have built the strongest partnership in the history of relations between our two countries, and we will certainly continue working to expand it even further," Zelensky said.

The President said the parties agreed to discuss further cooperation, including work within the Anti-Ballistic Coalition, during a meeting in the near future.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on July 20 King Charles III of the United Kingdom officially appointed Andy Burnham as prime minister after he was elected leader of the Labour Party last week.
