Hong Kong mother, aunt, held after cannabis sweets send 2 children to hospital

Emergency services rushed children to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after girl, 12, vomited and boy, 6, briefly lost consciousness

Hong Kong police have arrested a mother and her husband’s aunt after the mother allegedly mistakenly fed her two children cannabis-infused sweets, sending them to hospital.

The force received a report at about 4pm on Monday that a six-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl had fallen ill at their home in Wang Tak House, Wang Tau Hom Estate.

The girl vomited, while the boy briefly lost consciousness, according to police.

Emergency services rushed the children to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the 41-year-old mother claimed she mistakenly gave the confectionery containing the prohibited drug to her son and daughter, believing they were ordinary sweets.

The mother was arrested on suspicion of child abuse, while the aunt was arrested on suspicion of possessing dangerous drugs.
