Veteran Congress leader and former KPCC member Karuthodi Radhakrishnan, 83, died after a brief illness on Saturday. He was cremated at his house at Kayiliyad near Vaniyamkulam on the same day.

Radhakrishnan played a key role in strengthening the Congress in areas such as Kayiliyad, Chalavara, Shoranur and Ottapalam and served as president of the Chalavara grama panchayat. He was also a director of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Cooperative Hospital, Palakkad. A silent march was taken out through Kayiliyad town in his memory. He is survived by his wife Indira and sons K.R. Rajeev and K.R. Sajeev.
