Every trading card game player has a favorite card, and Star Wars: Unlimited fans are no exception. Any TCG is also bound to evolve over time, and as the 2026 Galactic Championship tournament recently held in Las Vegas revealed, the favorite cards for the more competitive side of Unlimited right now seem to be more aggressive cards and leaders like Cad Bane and Boba Fett.

It's a great time to be a bounty hunter fan, with Unlimited's meta right now seeming to favor more villainous decks. However, there is one underrated Star Wars villain that fans and players alike may be sleeping on. A character that, according to Star Wars Unlimited's designer, John Leo, was swept under the rug far too soon.

The Stranger, aka Qimir, sliced and diced his way into our hearts in Leslye Headland's Star Wars: The Acolyte, which debuted on Disney Plus in 2024. While the series never received a second season, the beauty of Unlimited is that characters get a new lease of life through sets focused on different eras and themes within a galaxy far, far away. That's why The Stranger - No Survivors, a Legendary card that debuted in Unlimited's seventh set, A Lawless Time, is so memorable.

But it goes beyond the card giving a nod to fans of the character and The Acolyte. Speaking to Polygon at the Galactic Championship in Las Vegas, Leo pointed to The Stranger when we asked him which card the community at large is sleeping on.

"[The Stranger] was designed by my design partner on that set, Joe O'Neill. He always tells a story of how he designed it in the shower," Leo said. "It lets your opponent's unit hit you first in combat. But the gameplay feeling of that card is so wonderful and unusual. Like you never want your opponent's unit to hit yours first, except with this guy. It creates these really explosive gameplay moments. He's got the ambush keyword as well, so there are these great trades you can do, or you can set them up with certain leaders for really explosive two-for-ones."

A vigilance, cunning, and villainy unit, The Stranger might not look like much of a brutal card at first with his 1 power and 7 HP; however, his Grit keyword feature means that with each damage taken, The Stranger gets a +1/+0 to his power and HP. The Stranger also has Ambush, which lets a unit ready and immediately attack an enemy the moment it enters play; pair that with its ability to have the defending enemy unit attack first, and the card can deal a tremendous amount of damage to units in short, volatile bursts.

The Stranger's abilities match up well with what we saw in The Acolyte, with him being a hard-hitting attacker that only seems to grow more deadly the more he's ganged up upon. Depending on the right leader, base, events, and upgrades, he could easily deal a lot of damage to units and bases alike.

Based on all this, it's surprising to hear that Star Wars Unlimited players are sleeping on this powerful card. Then again, considering that The Stranger is currently selling for almost $20 on TCG Player, maybe he's not as overlooked as Leo thinks.

With set nine of Unlimited, Homeworlds, debuting on October 9, could there be a new meta on the way that will make The Stranger more popular for both casual and competitive players? Only time will tell.
