‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ earns record P587 million first-week gross in PH
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” made another record after it raked in more than half a billion gross during the first five days of its screening in Philippine cinemas.
The latest film in the Spider-Man franchise earned P586.9 million from July 29 to Aug. 2, as per the data released by the movie’s distributor, Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. Prior to this, the film also recorded the biggest opening-day gross for a Spider-Man film in the country at P96 million.
“Spider-Man soars to a phenomenal P587 million box office on Days 1 to 5, the biggest ever for a Spider-Man film, and the highest post pandemic opening weekend ever,” it said on its Facebook page.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” became the third film with the biggest opening weekend in the country, following “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”
The Tom-Holland starrer also made history globally after it recorded the biggest North American opening weekend at $360 million, beating “Avengers: Endgame’s” $357 million in 2019.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, also features cast members Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo. /ra
