LUCENA CITY – Taal Volcano in Batangas province recorded a significant increase in sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions, while its seismic activity continued to decline, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Wednesday (Aug. 5). In its 24-hour monitoring period, Phivolcs said Taal released 607 metric tons of SO2 on Tuesday. No visible plumes, however, were observed.
