ORMOC CITY – The Ormoc City government is setting up a five-hectare ube (purple yam) demonstration farm to boost production of the high-value crop, complementing a measure filed by Leyte Fourth District Rep. Richard Gomez seeking to make ube a national agricultural priority. The pilot farm is to be established in partnership with the Philippine Root Crop Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops) of the Visayas State University (VSU) based in Baybay City, Leyte.
