The trailer of Thudakkam, which marks the debut of veteran actor Mohanlal’s daughter, Vismaya Mohanlal, is out. The film, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, is expected to be an action drama and is set to hit the theatres on August 7, 2026.

The actress was in the headlines recently after being cyber-bullied for extending her support for the student protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the film also stars Aashish Joe Antony, who debuted in 2025 withL2: Empuraan. Other members of the cast include Sai Kumar, Bobby Kurian, Manoj K Jayan, KB Ganesh Kumar, Aswin, Essa, Kottayam Ramesh, Jaya Kurup and Jaffar Idukki, among others.

A cameo by Mohanlal is also on the cards for Thudakkam. The actor is also set to appear as Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali in Vysakh’s Khalifa, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, slated to release on August 20.

Penned by Linish Nellikkal, Akhil Krishna and Jude Anthany, Thudakkam marks Jude Anthany’s return as a director after the whopping success of 2018, a moving drama about the flood which plagued Kerala in 2018.

The Hindu review of 2018 said, “Jude Anthany Joseph’s 2018 is a moving reminder of the days when everyone in Kerala, irrespective of their religion, caste or their political inclinations, came together to help people in distress. Its humanitarian message and the context of its release somehow elevates the importance of this film, making it deserving of the tagline... ‘The real Kerala Story’.”

In July, a single from Thudakkam, ‘Thaliromale’, crooned by KS Chithra and written by Joe Paul, garnered over 2.1 million views on YouTube.

Akhil George and Jomon T John handled the cinematography of the film. Chaman Chacko is the editor. Jakes Bejoy is the lead composer for the film. Yannick Ben and Stunt Silva lead the film’s action choreography.
